…to Love

In the Old Testament, the Israelites were commanded to love God. Deuteronomy 6:5 tells us, ?You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.?
Many, many years later, while Jesus was living on earth, the Jewish leaders challenged Him. In verse 36b of our Bible Reading, one of the leaders asked Jesus, ?Teacher, which command in the law is the most important??
Jesus gave an answer that is very much like Deuteronomy 6:5. Jesus answered (verses 37-39), ?You must love the Lord your God. You must love him with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. This is the first and most important command. And the second command is like the first: ?You must love other people the same as you love yourself.??
God gives us this command in both the Old and New Testaments in the Bible. God clearly tells us to love Him first and then love others. Take time today to share your love with God. Then, take time to show God?s love to others.
