On a recent flight, the pilot announced we were flying at an altitude of 28,000 feet. Later he announced that there was a storm, so we would be flying at 35,000 feet. The pilot said, “For our safety, we will rise above the storm.”

That experience made me think about God and how He encourages us to “rise” above our problems. In our Bible verses for today, Paul said about problems he faced, “…we faced troubles, difficulties, and problems of every kind. We were beaten and thrown into prison. People get upset at us and fight against us. We work hard, and sometimes we get no sleep or food” (verses 4b-5).

But with God’s help, Paul was able to not give up and to live a pure life. Paul showed understanding, patience and kindness to others. God will help you, too. No matter what problems or challenges you face today, ask God to show you how to serve Him. He will help you “rise” above your problems.
