True Wisdom

Our Bible Reading today is about King Solomon. His father, King David, loved and obeyed God. When Solomon became king of Israel, he loved God, too.
God said to Solomon (verse 5), “Ask for anything you want. I will give it to you.” Solomon answered (verse 9a), “So I ask that you give me wisdom so that I can rule and judge the people in the right way.” These words show us that Solomon really wanted to follow God.
God gave Solomon true wisdom. And Solomon ruled as a wise king for many years. But then Solomon married women from foreign countries. Soon these wives influenced him to worship other gods. Later, the entire nation of Israel rejected God and started worshiping false gods.
Solomon was not wise when he turned away from God. But we can be wise if we give our lives to God and serve Him every day.
