Victory through Jesus

Yesterday we learned that God punished Adam and Eve for their disobedience. He also punished the devil. Genesis 3:15 tells us part of God’s punishment for the devil. “I will make you and the woman enemies to each other. Your children and her children will be enemies. You will bite her child’s foot, but he will crush your head.”

That verse is a prophecy. It is talking about something that would happen in the future. Many years later this prophecy was fulfilled when Jesus died on the cross. But Jesus did not stay dead. Three days later He arose. Jesus defeated the devil.

When Adam and Eve disobeyed God, sin entered the world. Even since then, people have suffered from disappointements and failures. We suffer today because of sin that is in the world. But God gave us victory over sin through Jesus. Some day Jesus will come to take His followers to live forever with Him. Then the devil will be forever defeated.

As Christians, we have victory over the devil. But we cannot defeat him alone. We need to depend on God’s help. When we obey God and rely on His Word, God will help us stand strong against the devil’s attacks. Celebrate your victory through Jesus today!
