Sometimes I have to wait. I wait in line at the grocery store. I wait in the doctor’s office. When I am driving, I wait for the light to turn green. I don’t like to wait.
But our Bible Reading today gives us a very important reason to wait. Verse 28b says, “And Christ will come a second time, but not for people’s sin. Christ will come the second time to bring salvation to those people who are waiting for him.”
The Bible tells us that all people have sinned. People who sin must die. But Jesus loves us so much that He was willing to die on the cross. He accepted the punishment for our sins. Jesus did not stay dead — He arose! Then He went back to heaven. But Jesus promised that He would come back someday. Then Jesus will take His followers to live with Him forever.
I hope that you have accepted Jesus as your Savior and that you are following Him every day. Be patient and wait for Jesus to come again. He is worth waiting for!
