John, chapter 17, is a prayer that Jesus prayed on the night before He was crucified. In this prayer, Jesus prayed for His followers and for all the people who would follow Him in the future.
The books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John tell us that Jesus prayed many times. Jesus always prayed before He made important decisions. Sometimes He prayed all night. Often He went to a quiet place to pray.
If we want to be like Jesus, we need to pray, too. It is always good to say a short prayer at mealtime and bedtime. But it is also important to spend time sharing our thoughts and needs with God. The more we pray, the more we know about God and what He wants us to do.
If prayer is not an important part of your life, you can change that today. Spend some time talking to God, and let Him speak to you. God will pay attention to your prayers and bless you!
