Why Are You afraid?

Jesus and His followers spent many hours on Lake Galilee. Sometimes Jesus’ followers went fishing. Other times they traveled from one side of the lake to the other.

One time they were in a boat on the lake when a bad storm began. It was very windy, and waves were coming up over the boat. Jesus’ followers were afraid. Where was Jesus? He was asleep in the boat!

Jesus’ followers woke Him up. They told Jesus that they would drown and asked Him to save them. Matthew 8:26 tells us Jesus’ reply. “Jesus answered, ‘Why are you afraid? You don’t have enough faith.’ Then he stood up and gave a command to the wind and the water. The wind stopped, and the lake became very calm.”

Sometimes we may face “storms” in our lives. These storms may be sickness, death, financial troubles or family problems. Often we think that we must face these things alone. But Jesus is always with us. And He is saying, “Why are you afraid? I am with you. I am here to help you.”

You may face a stormy time in your life today. Remember that you are not alone. Jesus is with you. Trust Him to take care of you. Jesus will always do what is best for you.
