Wise Men (1)

At the time when Jesus was born, some men studied the stars. These men were called wise men. Probably these wise men had studied God’s Word to the Jews. God’s Word said (Micah 5:2a), “But you Bethlehem, Ephrathah, are the smallest town in Judah. Your family is almost too small to count. But the ‘Ruler of Israel’ will come from you for me.” So when a strange star appeared in the sky, the wise men started on a journey to worship the new king of the Jews.
The wise men traveled to the city of Jerusalem, where King Herod lived. Verse 3a of our Bible Reading says, “King Herod heard about this new king of the Jews. Herod was troubled about this.” King Herod was afraid another king would take his place. He asked the Jewish priests and teachers where the king was to be born. These men told Herod that the king was to be born in Bethlehem. Then Herod sent the wise men to find the new king.
God promised that a new king would be born, and He kept His promise. When God says something will happen, it will happen.
