Women in Acts (5)

Our Bible Reading today tells us that in the city of Joppa there was a woman named Tabitha. She was also called Dorcas. Tabitha was “always doing good things for people and giving money to those in need” (verse 36b).
While Peter was in Joppa, Tabitha died. The Christians there were so sad. They asked Peter to come to the room where they had put Tabitha’s body. Many people were in the room. They cried and showed Peter the clothes that Tabitha had made for them. Peter prayed and then said, “‘Tabitha, stand up!’ She opened her eyes. When she saw Peter, she sat up” (verse 40b).
Tabitha was a true servant. She helped other Christians by giving them clothes and money. Maybe you think that your job in God’s family is not very important. But God needs all kinds of servants in His kingdom — teachers, nursery workers, preachers, musicians, cooks, maintenance people and many more. Thank God today for the ways you can serve Him. —
