This is the first of six devotions about worry and fear. It is hard to separate worry and fear. Often when I am afraid, I worry, too. For example, when I am afraid that something bad might happen to me or my family, I begin to worry.
When I was growing up, my family worried all the time. My mom and dad worried about having money to pay the bills. My brother, sisters and I were afraid of people at school who teased us. And we worried about not having friends.
Now I am an adult. I know God is in control. I know I should not worry. But it is hard to stop worrying. Our Bible verses today remind us to depend on God. “God is our protection and source of strength. He is always ready to help us in times of trouble” (verse 1).
God created the world, and He made you, too. No matter what happens to you today, God will help you. And God will encourage you by giving you His strength and peace.
