You Can’t Cheat God

I read a story about a young boy who wanted to buy a set of drums. His friend owed him some money, but refused to pay him. So the boy complained that his friend had cheated him.
But there is more to this story. Before this happened, the young boy had gone out of town. While he was out of town he asked a lady in his neighborhood to take his job of delivering newspapers. The lady delivered the newspapers, but the young boy refused to pay her the wages he owed her.
God sees everything we do. And sometimes God teaches us a lesson. I hope that the young boy learned a lesson about not cheating people. Verses 7-8a of our Bible Reading say, “Don’t be fooled: You cannot cheat God. A person harvests only the things he plants. If a person plants (lives) to satisfy his sinful self, then his sinful self will bring him eternal death.”
God wants us to do good things instead of doing bad things. Look for ways to do good things for God today.
