Young Deaf People*

For several years I worked with deaf young people at state schools for the deaf. It was exciting to watch these young people grow. Many of them became fine Christians and fine citizens.
I remember that one Sunday night I preached a sermon in the chapel. After the sermon, I talked to a young deaf girl about becoming a Christian. A deaf boy named Steve walked up to us as we were talking. He signed to me that the young girl was not a Christian. I answered, “I know. But she wants to become a Christian.”
Then Steve signed something I will never forget. He signed, “Jesus changes everyday life into a wonderful experience.” I was so thankful that Steve was happy being a Christian.
There are many young deaf people who need to know about Jesus. Look for opportunities to share the Good News about Jesus with them. And don’t forget to pray that they will grow up to become strong Christians.
