Zacchaeus

Our Bible Reading today tells us about Zacchaeus. He was a Jew, but he collected taxes for the Roman government. Most Jewish tax collectors were dishonest. They collected taxes and kept some of the money for themselves. As a Jew, Zacchaeus would have learned God’s law. He knew it was wrong to be dishonest.
One day Jesus came to Zacchaeus’ town. Zacchaeus told Jesus, “I want to do good. I will give half of my money to the poor. If I have cheated anyone, I will pay them back four times more” (verse 8). Zacchaeus repented. He changed from being dishonest to being honest.
Once I was involved in using and selling drugs. I was dishonest, like Zacchaeus. My life was messed up, and I lost everything. Finally, I decided to change my heart and follow Jesus as my Lord and Savior.
