DEAF CHRISTIAN LEADERS CONFERENCE

POSTPONED TO FALL 2021

Announcement - Fall 2020 Events Postponed to Fall 2021

It is with great disappointment, some relief and renewed enthusiasm that we make this announcement. After spending a great amount of time in prayer, studying the trends in our country, and listening to our presenters and attendees through two different surveys, we have decided to postpone the Deaf Missions Jubilee and the Deaf Christian Leaders Conference until the fall of 2021. Thank you to those of you who responded to the survey. Your feedback was extremely valuable. As you may guess the opinions were varied, but the overwhelming majority expressed concerns about traveling and/or gathering this fall. Actually only 25% of those who responded asked that we attempt to have the conference in person this fall. Of those who have not yet registered, only 4% thought this fall was the best option and the majority of those still planning to register stated they would not even be willing to decide until September – just days before the conference. We considered the option of a virtual conference. We know there have been some great ones recently, but there were strong opinions encouraging that part of the value of this conference is the face to face encouragement, and we agree. We want to be together. We are very sad we have to wait so long to be together, but we trust God has a plan for this gathering. Watch our Facebook page. We will be doing some short and fun pop-up Facebook lives during our original conference dates this fall. Registration will remain open. You can register soon, or you can wait until we get closer to the date in 2021. Know that with some changes there may have to be a rate increase, so if you are able you might want to consider registering in the next few months. If you have already registered, your registration will transfer directly to the new 2021 conference dates. If we have to increase the rates for 2021, the rate increase will NOT affect you since you are already registered! The Jubilee will also take place a year late. Your ticket for the celebration is still good as well! If you would prefer to have your registration refunded and register again in 2021, let us know. We are currently exploring dates and will communicate with you as soon as we have them confirmed. You may know that Deaf Missions holds an interpreters conference every two years. With our delay, the Deaf Christian Leaders Conference will be held together with the Deaf Missions Christian Interpreters Conference. Each group will have unique opportunities for fellowship and sessions planned just for you and your life work and experience. And you will have the opportunities to fellowship and grow together. The theme will remain Persevere – we need that encouragement from Nehemiah after our crazy year of 2020. Please pray with us for all the changes and the details as we work toward being together in 2021. Pray for the continued ministry of Deaf Missions through the rest of 2020 and beyond. Thank you for your continued support of the ministry of Deaf Missions. Your support and encouragement is very important to us. Let's close with this reminder from Paul to Timothy: For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love and self-discipline. So never be ashamed to tell others about our Lord.
